I am a software developer and manager for a financial company in Omaha, Nebraska. The company I work for now offers a benefit (as of a couple of years ago) that very few in the United States offer: every seven years, I get a sabbatical! The first seven years is two weeks; after that it is three weeks. We can add one week of vacation to the start or end of the sabbatical. In addition, we can get a $1,000 stipend to use during that sabbatical. This blog documents my first sabbatical, after working there for 14 years.
