Started feeling much better by yesterday evening, despite such a long leg. Pretty much the entire leg was on the Trans-Canada Highway, which was mainly rugged, wooded terrain with a lot of little lakes. There weren’t that many places to take pictures, though – and with such a long leg, I didn’t want to spend much time in any one place, anyway.
I did see a bear, though! I had to stop to wait for it to cross the highway. I have a picture of it, sort of, but I didn’t want to stay around to find out if that cub’s mother was around somewhere.
I visited two breweries, Soo Brewing Company, and one just a few blocks from it that I hadn’t known about, Lockside Brewery (also 1668 Winery). They have only been open since April, and are only a one-barrel system. That lack of capacity shows; they only have three beers on tap. But, they were all good, as was the turkey melt sandwich I had there. There’s actually a third brewery – Union Jack Brewing Co. (this one on the Canadian side) – but I didn’t stumble upon them until they were closing. My hotel had one of their beers on tap, though.
