Sabbatical 2015 – Around the Great Lakes

Day Seven: Sudbury, Ontario

I’m one week into my trip, and still haven’t shaved, nor checked my work email! Also back to feeling pretty good, so I was able to get a run in yesterday. It was quite a bit cooler – 45 degrees Fahrenheit (7C) – and misting to light rain at times.

The terrain was pretty similar as the day before, with a little more farmland. So, not so many pictures this time. No bears, either, but I did see several horse-drawn carriages after passing through the tiny town of Spanish, Ontario.

There is only one brewery in Sudbury, Stack Brewing. They do not have a taproom, either, and were only open until 5 pm on Sundays. I picked up a couple of bottles and cans. They have a Vanilla Chai Amber that was especially delicious.

I did find a funky little place for dinner that had a huge beer list, the Laughing Buddha. My favorite there – but quite expensive – was Winter Beard by Muskoka, a double chocolate cranberry stout. Delicious! That brewery might be worth a stop, if they are open, on my way to Toronto.

The next update may be delayed, as I will have to leave Toronto pretty early to pick Amy up in Montreal at noon.
