We started yesterday in the city center of Rivière-du-Loup and a visit to a little bakery called Boulangerie Artisanale Au Pain Gamin for coffee, tea and croissants. Then it was a drive up the coast mostly along the Route des Navigateurs, before turning at Mont-Joli to cut across the western edge of the Gaspésie. We mostly followed the Rivière au Saumon, which turned out to be a very beautiful drive this time of year.
We stayed in the community of Carleton within the town of Carleton-sur-Mer, a small town consisting of about five communities like Carleton and totaling just under 4,000 people.
After a good dinner, we stopped by the local brewery, the Microbrasserie La Naufrageur. The place was nearly completely full at 7:30 or so on a Thursday night. We didn’t know they served food; otherwise, we might have eaten dinner there.
Today is a pretty long drive – plus a time zone change from Eastern to Atlantic – to Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.
